#InspireMeDIY Challenge REVEAL!

It’s amazing how we put off and put off and put off the smaller projects on our DIY to-do list.  I am SO thankful that this challenge kicked my booty into hyperdrive because I am beyond happy with how my project turned out!  It’s been on our list to get our guest room slash office ready before summer, but on a little smaller scale has been to spruce up the guest bathroom a bit as well. After the past week of putting time into getting her done, here’s what we ended up with!

#inspiremeDIY Challenge Reveal!

I am so in love with how it turned out! The progress is lighting my fire to finish up the office/guest room that’s connected!

Just to clarify…..here’s what we were starting with.

#inspiremeDIY Challenge Reveal!

Oh boy. Soooooo neglected. Yes those are weights and yes I use them! ;-)

#inspiremeDIY Challenge Reveal!

Today I’m just sharing pictures, but here’s the basic run-down of what I did:

  • Paint focal wall with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in French Linen.
  • Buy brackets and spray paint them gold.
  • Buy a 2″ x 12″ x 8′ board, measure and cut, then stain with Minwax Weathered Oak – such a great color! This was two coats.
  • Install shelving. This was done thanks to my husband. He’s the expert!
  • DIY Starfish Artwork.

To complete this small DIY project, I was pretty set on not spending a ton of money and using what we already had on hand.  The only things I bought were the brackets and wood board. Everything else was used by pulling items from around our house and restyling with what we already had.  I love that you could change the plant on the table with a variety of things such as a vase full of fresh flowers and foliage to a large lantern. Versatility is key!

  15. What a beautiful bathroom!
I’ve been meaning to build floating shelves over the toilet in my boys’ bathroom for a year now. I might just go the bracket route. I used those same brackets outside for our window boxes and they are not only nice looking, but very sturdy! Excellent shelves!
