Spring Trends Patio Progress and a Giveaway

Before getting into today’s fun post, I just want to give you a HUGE THANK YOU for all of your support and excitement across the board from my last post announcing my upcoming ebook! I’m working to bring you nothing but the best and it means so much to me to hear back from you all.  Truly….thank you. It’s keeping me going and improving things along the way.  To be the first to know when it’s released, make sure to follow the link above and subscribe and verify your email address (this is for the ebook only, not blog posts).  Thanks so much!

So, did you enjoy your first day of Spring?! We sure did here in WA state with some gorgeous sunshine, although still cold. It got me in the mood to start rolling up the sheepskin rugs and bring out some home decor for Spring. Since downsizing to our beach house this past Summer, we’ve been spending the fall and winter months selling things off, donating, and maximizing storage, so the practicality of having seasonal decor to swap around is pretty huge in our smaller home, BUT it is possible!  More to come on that!

One area of our home that I’ve never been able to do much with yet is our patio above our garage.

To be honest, it just didn’t seem right! It’s like this little oasis away from it all with no way to enjoy it. We would throw some chairs up there, but with summer coming up, we decided to take the leap and spruce it up for some relaxation. ;-)

Like almost any area of a home, it can be best to use what you already own and go from there. We aren’t in a position to go crazy brand new with everything here, so in the end, it will be a mix of old, new, and diy.  No surprise there if you’ve been around here for awhile!  We decided to use our lounge chairs and bistro set for seating, and then I got to do a little shopping {insert happy dance} for some new items.  One thing that I’ve been dreaming of getting up there is a nice big outdoor rug to really define the space. After searching multiple websites, I was super excited when I found this one by Waverly on Home Depot’s website.

This, That and Life: Project Patio

It is only available online, and in three great colors, but by the time I used some Home Depot coupon codes, I was able to checkout for about $100 with free delivery. Not bad for an 8 x 10ish rug! I think this will be great for the space which gets a ton of sun, wind, salt from the ocean, and rain.  It definitely fits within our budget, our coastal style, and adds some fun trendiness to the patio.  I also got to do some more shopping and picked up some lanterns at TJMaxx (#maxxinista all the way!), some fresh flowers and succulents to go in our current garden containers as well as a few other, yet to be revealed, goodies >>>> those “hidden” things that make it all work.   For now, here is our progress!

I was super pleased with the texture and quality of the rug when it arrived. It was even BETTER than I thought it would be. Thumbs up for that.

Project Patio This That and Life Ranunculus

Ranunculus and succulents do well in the Pacific Northwest and have my heart. They add such rich color and texture.

We’re pretty happy with how things are coming along!

Here are the next steps:

> DIY some planter boxes kind of like this for a mini garden and privacy screen.

> Install veggies and plants into above said DIY boxes. ;-)

> Order up some outdoor pillows. Overstock has an AMAZING selection!!! I’m leaning toward these in black and white. Any other stripes fans out there?

>Incorporate some outdoor storage container for above said pillows and misc. items.

> Dig out chair cushions from storage for the bistro set.

>Find some large candles for the lanterns.

What do you do to get Spring Ready?
