A Little of This, A Little of That

Hi friends! You are in for a treat today, because I get to introduce my friend Jennifer to you!  I first met Jennifer through Honey We’re Healthy where she is a contributing writer {because she’s that awesome}, but then I learned that she has her very own amazing blog The Chronicles of Home.  All you have to do is search for “tutorial” and you’ll be set taking in inspiration for awhile, but she also shares amazing recipes. One tasty one you should definitely try is her Mushroom and Goat Cheese Crostini. Can we all say “YUM”?!!!

Take it away Jennifer!

Hi This, That & Life readers!  I’m Jennifer from The Chronicles of Home and I think Anneke is just the sweetest thing around and so inspiring in every way – fitness, food, home decorating, lifestyle…you name it.  I’m so excited to be here today sharing some tidbits about myself with you!

  • I love to build furniture!  It all started about a year ago with a simple rectangular bench I knocked off from West Elm for my kitchen and after that I was hooked.  Here are a few of my favorite pieces to date (and there are tutorials for making all of them on my site!):

  •  I love color and pattern.  I look at images of houses decorated all in soft whites and blues and think, “Oh I LOVE that.”  But in the end I’m always drawn to colorful fabrics and beautiful patterns.  I really went to town on my screened porch and, you know what?  It’s my favorite room in the house right now!

  • When it comes to clothes, I love navy, emerald green, and raspberry pink, and you can probably find me in one of these colors about 98% of the time.  I own a rainbow of skinny jeans – green, pink, mint, dark purple, light purple, and plain dark denim – and also love a good statement necklace or patterned scarf.  My favorite accessory color lately is yellow!

  • I love to read…and sadly do SO little of it lately.  I think I need to find a book club to force me to get through a book in less than four months.  I’ll always have a soft spot for classic literature.  I wrote a thesis on F. Scott Fitzgerald in college and took a seminar on Jane Austen, and my favorite book, which I’ve read at least three times, is East of Eden by John Steinbeck.  When I read nowadays it’s usually contemporary fiction or non-fiction, though.
  •  My sweet tooth is a force to be reckoned with.  Luckily, I adore fruit so can usually keep it in check by snacking on fruit.  I also came up with a healthy “milkshake” recipe lately…I’ll be sharing the recipe on my blog next week!

  • I worked in human resources, as an assistant at an architecture/interior design firm, as a third grade teacher, a second grade teacher, and e-book formatter before falling into life as a DIY blogger.  I’ve never been busier, spread thinner, or juggled as many balls in the air as I do now, but I’ve also never felt as sure that I’m on the path to the really right thing for me.

  • My dream is to have a line of children’s upholstered furniture that is stylish, classic, contemporary, and durable.  I’ve been working lately on the design for the first chair.

Thanks again to Anneke for including me in this series!  Stop by and say hello at The Chronicles of Home sometime.  Hope you’re all having a great summer!

I’m so glad to have had you on This, That and Life today Jennifer! Thank you for sharing more about yourself and I, for one, am cheering you on to fulfill your dreams ~ they are beautiful just like you!

Thanks for stopping by today!
