Home Office Reveal ~ The Makings of a Room

Wow ~ coming up on Friday already? How did that happen??? I’m super excited though because I’m headed with our worship team Friday night to see Kim Walker-Smith on her Still Believe tour!  Friends, food, and music – sounds like the perfect night to me. :-D Now just to make it through Seattle traffic stress free and we’ll be good.

Well, here we are half way into March and I’ve been teasing you and teasing you with decorating our home office. Even though I don’t consider it “done-done”, I’ve decided to just get on with it and show you what’s been done {even though various blog posts have practically revealed the whole thing}!

When we first moved into our home 3.5 years ago, this was our son’s room – a baby at the time! Our office was downstairs behind the front living room and dining room. After living in the space for awhile, we came to realize we NEVER wanted to go in the office! Without getting all specific, the location was just a big deterent {back “dark” corner of the house staring out the window at a concrete wall}. I’m sure beautiful flowers and landscaping would have help, but whatever.

SO, last winter 2011, snow came and the kids and I were in our home – literally – for one week.  Arghhhhh! That’s definitely enough time to do some damage.  ;-) We did a big switch-a-roo and moved my son into the then playroom, the playroom to the office, and the office to my son’s room. More room for the kiddos traded for a smaller office space, but we love it.  I hope you do too!

When I had my sister {go LIKE her Facebook page HERE!} out to take photos for my contributor post on iHeart Organizing, I asked her if she could please take some photos of the office. Everything isn’t totally done or in place, but I had to take advantage of her awesomeness! Best sister ever I tell ya! {and yeah…I owe her some furniture} ;-)

So, when you first walk in the door you see this.

And that’s it, the end, the whole room.

Why did it take forever then? Haha! Just kidding, but it is a small room. :-)

Just to the right of the door, I painted this huge green square and hung this picture.

It was a simple way to add color and drama that can be easily changed down the road.

That picture is 40″ x 40″!

We have a doggy bed in there for our mini schnauzer Riley, but he seriously just lays on the rug anyway.

To the left of the door is this dresser and chair.

We still need to straigten out that light! lol ;-)

I need to move that little turtle ~ he’s so cute!!!

 Some outtakes!

My son. Love this kid!

Kayla’s son ~ my nephew. Love this kid too! :-)

  3. Love it…The green square behind the art is genius! What a great way to create a high impact look for a low cost. And I’m jealous of your sister’s photography skills! ;) I will be looking forward to the bookcase tutorial, too!

  4. Awesome job Anneke!!! You’ve taken this room and turned into a gorgeous & oh so inviting work space. I have one of those “Dream” pieces forever just like yours but it’s painted black & I’ve been wanting to make a change with it. It sets above my head on the top of my amoire-type desk & I keep forgetting to paint it. You’ve inspired me to never forget to DREAM!!! Thank you XO
