Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie with Protein

The name kind of says it all. I’m loving this smoothie recipe my hubby brought home from his fire department buddies. Thanks guys!

Really, if you search “Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie”, you’ll get tons of results, so this isn’t some awesome new recipe I invented or anything. But almost all of the recipes I found used milk, so I thought I’d at least share this yummy new fave of mine with you as an alternative. Quite frankly, I’ve been out of the smoothie scene since my berry-filled summer, and this is such a nice change to the sweetness of berries.

The ingredients are simple. I personally just kind of wing the measurements, but listed some suggestions here:

  • 1-2 Fresh or Frozen Banana (I prefer frozen)
  • 2 tbs Peanut Butter (I like Adam’s Creamy Peanut Butter – although the picture shows crunchy!) ;-)
  • .5 tbs Honey
  • .5 cup Crushed Ice
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 serving Protein Powder (I’d love to try this one by the girls at Tone It Up!)

Just blend all of the ingredients together and you’re done. Simple, yummy, and surprisingly filling!

Not to mention our kiddos love it too!

You can experiment with the ratio of ingredients to find what you like.

Have you tried a smoothie like this before?

Let me know what you think if you give it a try!

  1. You must have read my mind Anneke. I’ve been wanting a recipe like this & do intend to try it. I’ve not tried the Whey Protein Powder yet but I think I’ve seen it at Costo maybe? Is that where you get it? I have tried the Tone It Up Powder & it’s great! Thank you for the recipe.

    • Hi Colleen! Yes, my husband likes the protein powder in the picture and buys it from Costco. It’s such a fast recipe, I’ll use it for a quick breakfast or lunch even. I love it! Thanks for letting me know your experience with the Tone It Up powder – I’m moving toward organic non-gmo products, so I’m definitely interested.
